bathroom renovations

Tips & hints:

A little preparation goes a long way when deciding to have your bathroom renovated. Here are a few simple things to consider

  • Because the cost of the renovation will depend on your choice of materials and finishes, it is best to pre-determine the look you wish to create and the investment you want to make to achieve it.
  • Consider who will be using the new bathroom. Will it be the whole family? Try to mix visual appeal with function to get the most out of your new room.
  • Get your house ready for the renovation team well before their arrival date. Remove items that you don’t want to use in your new bathroom.
  • Make sure you know exactly what amenities won't be available to you during the renovation process so you can make arrangements to borrow a neighbour's, relative's or friends bathroom for a short period of time if you dont take a second bathrooms. Failing this, ask your Technical Representative about a Portaloo facility while your bathroom is out of action.
  • Keep everyday items within easy reach.
  • Take into account lighting - this can really make or break the look of your new bathroom.
  • Think about power and how many points you may need.
  • To save a little money and enjoy a stylish finish, take a look at the many laminate finishes on offer for use in your vanity unit.
  • When putting together your short list of requirements, give a degree of thought to the internal fitments for your cabinets as these can often save you time and space. Companies such as Hettich specialise in a wide range of high quality options.
  • The average life span of appliances is around 7-years, using existing appliances may save you money now but in the long term may not pay dividends.
  • When choosing your new appliances, ask about extended warranties which are on offer for a small cost.
  • With a shortage of water on everybody’s minds right now, saving as much as we can is of primary importance. Choose water efficient tapware and ask our showroom consultants about the new ‘WELS’ Water Efficiency Rating System.
  • Choose water efficient toilets and shower fitments and ask your design specialist for guidance on this.
  • If space and budget permits, you may wish to incorporate the latest technology into your bathroom, such as a mini stereo system or compact LCD screen.
  • Choose easy to clean surfaces for tiles and think of safety when choosing
    floor materials
